Just a being with various interests. I've always been an outlier (or at least felt like one) in any social group. I'm a high functioning asperger's person, so that's probably why. I generally like other outlier groups, because they tend to be less judgemental (hippies, punks, etc.) Though, I don't really fit in with them either.
I like science, math, politics, music, and poetry. Talking about and thinking about ideas brings me joy. I like the peace, terror, and beauty found in nature. It feels real.
Neurotic, overthinker, anxious, occasionally compassionate, sometimes goofy, sometimes creative, occasionally an unintentional asshole. I don't easily cave and agree with people when I disagree with them. Even when it's a large group and there's that peer pressure feeling. In the south, this manifested in me disagreeing with a group of 15 people about gay marriage. I argued that they should be allowed to marry. With some hippies, I disagree with the notion that people are fundamentally good, or that peace will occur if we are just kind enough. With punks, I disagree that anarchy is possible in a world with technology, scarce resources, and assholes.(2023 update: I'm much less certain on my world views now. Maybe more humble?) If you can convince me otherwise, go for it. I like debate.
Ramble Section (maybe a window into how I am):
Cities in the United States aren't designed for energy efficiency. They're too spaced out and lack public transport.
Is it immoral to contribute to a society that's fucking up the planet this badly? Or is it moral since there are still some good people in that society?
How do you decide what to do when there are uncountably many paths you could take and you don't know where they lead.

- I'm very pro social liberty. Dress, act how you want. The next part is a little long winded. I think in economic matters/criminal matters, the political position should depend on context. Not really an ideologue in these realms. Obvioiusly corporations need regulation to combat human greed, but the particular regulation needs to be tailored to that specific industry, taking into account environmental, economic, and social implications. I believe that laws should be written with a collaboration between domain experts: economists, environmentalists, industry experts, workers, and those affected by the laws. I believe there should be something like jury duty where experts and nonexperts are given paid time off to have input on laws. Edit (2023): I know believe that the fundamental incentive structure of shareholders capitalism is not tenable in the long term for society.
