We are a new co-op in Seattle!
-----
We’re excited to let you know about a new free film forum & community project: Cinema Politica Seattle, sponsored by the Vera Project. We are a small group of friends who are passionate about film, as well as the potential power of action, conversation, and engagement beyond the screen.
This chapter of Cinema Politica is one of hundreds worldwide, with the founding organization based in Montreal, Canada. Cinema Politica’s main objective is to promote and exhibit the discussion of controversial or stimulating topics, and encourage viewers to elicit change in their communities.
The films we screen span larger issues of social justice, consumerism, homelessness, political theory, environmentalism, art movements, and other topics. In an attempt to supplement the messages presented in the films, we invite individuals and organizations to lead post-screening discussions at the events.
Our local chapter goes out of their way to acquire accessible screening spaces for free and off of college campuses in hopes of creating an inviting space for all. Our current venue is the Vera Project, located in Seattle Center.
