Has anyone ever done this or know or a good point of entry? If you dont want to pubicly post...please message me. I m down for it and wanting to hit Prince Rupert all the way to Halifax. When I was in Maine you could just walk across the river it was like a foot deep. I went back and forth several times while I was fishing. That is about all of my Canada experience though.

Is there a reason you can't enter legally?

If you look clean, have some money, and somewhat of a plan, you'll be let in no problem. I'm fairly certain if you don't get a date you have to be out by, you can stay in Canada for 6 months. (legally).

There is a curtain horse farm on 0 ave, go at night, call a house, walk the border with the horse facing the border crossing lights. i have been told this twice by two different people.

Most of the small boarder towns in BC have simple lift gates attached to a large guard house (1 on CAN side and 1 on the US side) They close down at 12am and don't open till 8am (hours may vary at various crossings)

The crossing at Salmo BC is a prime example of this.

There is a lot of wilderness to travel that the hwy runs through on the US side and the road is mildly patrolled. The bushes are not patrolled at all and with a good back road map book you can even find the old smuggling roads still in existence..

Roughly 10 years ago High Times had an article about a guy that would just ride the bike trails back and forth between borders to score Canadas finest.

But, back then (pre-9/11) border security was much different.

I would not necessarily fall for all the scare tactic media hype about the boarders since 9/11. I know personally those small town boarder crossings are today as they have been for well over a decade.

Even getting cross boarders by boat is still on an honor system to report your arrival...

Wow..then I ll put Canada back on my list. Since I posted this I ve changed my location slightly from Atlanta to Anchorage Alaska and am preparing for another journey. I ve been using google satellite to scope out the Crossing here but fear hitchhiking (something I ve never really done ) once I cross will only draw attention and lead to being apprehended. I would pay gas for anyone to meet me but shit, its in the middle of nowhere! I d like to make it to Prince Rupert and bag my first Canadian train there..if not..then I ll fly to Seattle and cross at Blaine WA. Someone to pick my pack up while I hoof it over would be nice..meet me on the other side and whisk me away from the border and into Vancouver. Im actually all ready now..just waiting to warm up a bit

Id check the VACIS threads before trying to catch freight across the border, as for the west coast i donno, Ive been looking into crossing into the states and all of the west coast seems pretty tight, good luck getting through at 0 avenue, they got cameras motion and ground sensors all throughout the ying yang, perhaps if you go in with a group of forgieners and all ya scatter when the fuzz arrives.

as for the small community 'lift gate' crossings, nothing like that exists on the west coast anymore, I assume adonis was speaking of the nelway crossing, while its no champlain crossing with a 300+ security force, theres still a building now thats manned.

one could hypothetically cross through the mountians, but that in itself is no small task, one has to actually get out to the mountians that are near the border, then know how to traverse them without getting lost, were talking a 2week min. voyage here, lots of towns close to the border on the canadian side, not much states side, and if you think people wont be weary of someone hanging around the border highway with a pack on, your fooling yourself, people are dumb, but its usually not in your favour.

its where everyone goes now, for everything, drugs, smuggling etc, the cops are weary of it. same with that reserve attawiskia or w.e its called, you dont think the border police know its a major smuggling point? theyre probably swarming the place, if it seems too easy then it probably is.

from my own research, the east is where its at, specialy quebec/vermont/NY area, lotsa bush, and a few areas where there actually are ungate crossing points. your still ducking through guard towers and shit but once you hit a town you can pretty much blend in, shits not over until your atleast 100miles from the border so dont think youre safe once you cross the line and hit a highway.

in all honesty, i dont know man, lots of places where one could hypothetically make it across, you just gotta try and account for the pros and cons within your abilities, dont think your gonna find a ehow guild for this, the planning and specific route is gonna be on you. Seems your best bet is to literally hover the border on google maps looking for places and when you see one google it, look into it as much as you can, history, past attempts, national parks etc. street view is your best friend altho the states stop street view 200 meters or so from the actual crossing points.

getting into canada for the US is probably a lot easier then it is vice versa, but the border patrol and cbsa also work together, alerting each other if the sensors go off, they can also chase you across the line now and drag your ass back if need be.

if anyone can see holes in my speal, please, poke away.

*edit* oh but by all means, if you make it across feel free to rub it in my face, and more importantly gimmi all the details.

There is a 2k mile virtual fence that is prob not completely secure for obvious reason. On the east coast there are lots of snowmobile trails, there is an indian res that shares borders with CA & the US but i have yet to push my luck border jumping.

in BC. it is really easy to go back and forth, those small town boarder crossing do still exist i drive by one everyday on my way to the farm, theres maybe 3 or 4 people guarding each side- i met 3 young traveler kids that just walked across around elko area last year-best towns to cross google search would be SALMO, CRESTON, ELKO , NIGHTHAWK,MIDWAY, iam looking at google map and some of the smaller crossings arnt even show, the main southern highway 3 runs along the boarder so people will just think your another hitcher, not a boarder jumper, i been thinking about going south and crossing is not at all a problem. more worried about 2 months down the road when i get busted without a passport,

So I am confused, you just walk across the bridge? or you walk around the bridge?
