Well I am a percussion player and I am finally housed up so I want to buy a washboard.
Should I buy one specifically designed for music (musical washboard) or just a regular one?

no it wont really be any different. your just going to end up paying more for a 'musical washboard' ! the difference in sound comes from what you use to play the washboard. some people use banjo pics on each or a few of your fingers, some people use drum sticks, ive seen others make they're own things out of bottle caps and stretchy material to fit around the finger tips. or you can use thimbles if you have small enough fingers. and also ive seen people take old gloves and glue different coins on each finger. and the different things you may choose to attach to your washboard will also influence its sounds. it can be as plain or as simple as you want it to be. personaly i like using banjo pics the best so far.
