Does anyone have experience with a sling (not a slingshot)? I know it's a good weapon, but I want to hear if anyone has experience using one on the road, and if it's worth the time to practice

Its not a projectile sling, well i guess it is but instead of chunking mini projectiles you can throw the bolo itself. Good for passive or aggresive use.

I know it takes a lot of time and practice for this weapon, and one handy tip I was told was to aim your fist when you release in a "hook" motion...kinda hard to explain without showing you, but also flick your wrist right before release to gain a little extra velocity...just keep practicing.

aggressive indeed! these suckers can break limbs if used properly. hunters in aboriginal Australia can use these with deadly ass accuracy and force. Its the inspiration for the tongan slingers in grrm's a song of ice and fire.

Thanks for the advice, it does take a lot of time but it is damn satisfying when I finally get a good hit

It is amazing how much force you can generate with a good throw. And how much more distance than throwing by hand. I made a slingstaff once, kind of like a hand held trebuchet. I could get almost twice the distance with that compaired to using the sling alone. But a sling us easier to use.

I used to play with one as a youngster ! My dad taught me the ways and they are pretty fun once you get the hang of it. You can fling shit really far. I'm sure they could be used effectively in a long range situatuon. (David and Golith) If you have the means hit up a golf driving range and sling a bucket of balls haha less time looking for good rocks . Also look up how to whip it right , it's more consistant/powerful/accurate to swing it behind you and do a figure 8 motion swing it once around over your head and release it like your throwing a fast ball.
