Hi, my name is Matt Pist. I consider myself to be a full time wanderer, always looking for the next big adventure. It's not unusual for me to stay put somewhere for a while, but I'm usually much happier on the move, seeing new things, and meeting new people. I've been around the United States more times than I can count, and I've been on a few short trips to western Europe as well. Places I'd like to see in the future would be Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Back in the days before anyone even knew what a blog was, I was writing about my travels across America through images, video, and storytelling on http://squattheplanet.com. Squat the Planet has since grown into a huge networking resource forum for the traveler counter-culture, and I felt like these stories were getting buried and forgotten, so I decided to put them back up here in this section of the StP website. Here you'll find stories from my train riding hobo days documented from mid 2001 to 2003. A great community of people have sprung up in the Squat the Planet Forums, so if you're interested in any kind of travel, it's a good place to start learning things about the road and to network with other people. My next project is Punk Planet TV, which you can learn more about here. I'm always interested in meeting other people weather you're a squatter, punk, radical, or whatever. I'd just like to meet others living independently. Use the links below if you'd like to get in contact with me.
