The zipper on my sleeping bag broke. And I'm leaving Wednesday morning and will be camping for the next month at least so I need to fix it asap. Anyone have any advice? I hate zippers.

if you dont have time to repair it, you could always buy an extra one in a fabric shop and just sew it on top of the old one?

Id just say don't worry about it. Iv'e been there before, and its not the end of the world not being able to zip up. If its really bugging you just go to a seamstress and they'll fix you right up.

Can your sleeping bag open up completely flat... or close enough?
Then lay down at one edge of the material... and roll yourself up like a Fantastic French crepe'.

At least that's how I woke up this morning. ::eyepatch::

Also, if you have some pliers or something you could try squeezing and adjusting the zipper slider (if it's the slider thats the problem...)

so it binds the uh...teeth? together better when you try to close it.
Or you can try scavenge a new slider from somewhere/anywhere else.

Good luck.

Ahhh... be careful though. Depends on how tough the slider is... could end up breaking it. Kinda like when you bend a piece of wire back and forth till it snaps.

I almost always only used blankets on the road (even in the cold).
Never had a zipper fail and the damn things are almost everywhere.

Not warm enough? Use two.

Happened to my mummy bag once when I was hiking in high altitudes. I used bungie cords to keep it snug around me.

you could put ties or toggles(loop and buttons) or snaps every foot or so along the edge. my current bag has a zipper with a flap that has snaps on it. the snaps are nice when it is too hot to use the zipper.
