Documents / Identification

Domicile for Nomads: Establishing a Legal Residence on the Road - A very good article for those interested in establishing residency and related documentation for nomads. Geared mostly towards those living in their vehicles, it does have a lot of interesting information on why you might want to establish residency in US states like South Dakota or Texas.

VitalCheck - Often the first step in getting your ID and other documents in order is having a birth certificate. This website is an excellent and cheap place to get a copy of your birth certificate. @Matt Derrick got his birth certificate twice from this website and both times it was around $25 USD after shipping.

Mail and Packages on the Road: A Guide for Vanlife Nomads - Another article from the Gonomads website detailing various methods for receiving mail while traveling. Has a few useful tips and tricks you probably haven't heard of.

General Gear Information

LighterPack - This website lets people share their gear lists with an easy to use short url. A good way to share what gear you're packing along with links to where you can buy that gear and how much it weighs, etc... if you'd like to see what a gear list looks like without signing up, click this link.

StP's Ultimate Gear Guide - A long but useful resource for just about every mode of travel, including how to find cheap gear, and what kind of gear you should expect to pack on the road. Taken from Matt Derrick's book, The Anarchist's Guide to Travel.

The Vagabond's Guide to Buying Shit Online - This is basically a guide explaining how to obtain the best gear for the cheapest price possible.

Gear Backpackers Ditch First by Homemade Wanderlust - A pretty good video detailing a lot of gear hikers start out carrying that are almost always not worth the trouble.

My Budget Backpacking Gear List - Another great video by Homemade Wanderlust, detailing a complete package setup with all the basics you need for travel (including tent, sleeping system, backpack, etc) for under $500. There's a lot of Aliexpress items here but she has a lot of experience with hiking the AT and has tested these items so they look like they'd be worth using.

Monthly Goals

  1. Paying the Bills
    $10.00 of $50.00
The first $50 in donations go towards paying our monthly server fees and adding new features to the website. Once this goal is reached, we'll see about feeding Matt that burrito.
  2. Buy Matt a Beer
    $10.00 of $75.00
Now that we have the bills paid for this month, let's give Matt a hearty thank you by buying him a drink for all the hard work he's done for StP. Hopefully this will help keep him from going insane after a long day of squishing website bugs.
  3. Feed Matt a Burrito
    $10.00 of $100.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt has a beer in his hand, how about showing him your love by rewarding all his hard work with a big fat burrito to put in his mouth. This will keep him alive while programming new features for the website.
  4. Finance the Shopping Cart
    $10.00 of $200.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt is fed, perhaps it's time to start planning for those twilight years under the bridge... if only he had that golden shopping cart all the oogles are bragging about these days.
