It makes me wonder how often stuff like this really happens.

I've got this sense of justice that says that the cops involved in shit like this should acquire the charges they tried to pin on somebody else (as a minimum). On any offense resulting in arrest, they get human rights violations::rules::.

According to the judge, the victims, who were facing life imprisonment did not have the mental capacity to carry out the attack on their own.

How shameful can you get?

A judge ruled the couple was entrapped by Canada's national police force.

A Canadian couple convicted in a terrorism plot will be set free after a judge ruled they had been entrapped in a police sting operation.

John Nuttall and Amanda Korody were found guilty of planting pressure cooker bombs at the British Columbia legislature on Canada Day in 2013.

A judge said police manipulated the couple into carrying out the attack.

The pair did not have the mental capacity plan the attack on their own, the judge added.

"The world has enough terrorists. We do not need the police to create more out of marginalized people," British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Catherine Bruce wrote in her ruling.

Nuttall and Korody, two Canadian-born citizens, were convicted in 2015 on three terrorism-related charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and possessing explosive devices for a terrorist group.

The legislature of British Columbia was the intended target.

The couple faced life in prison.

However, their convictions were not registered after defence lawyers argued that police had entrapped the couple.

The Royal Mounted Canadian Police, the country's national police, underwent a months-long, undercover sting operation that ended in the couple's arrest.

But Judge Bruce said the police made an "enormous effort" to assist the couple in carrying out the attack.

"The defendants were the foot soldiers but the undercover officer was the leader of the group," the judge said.

i don't doubt the police did this, but what's this about not having the mental capacity? where they trying to convince disabled people to blow stuff up? that seems unusually cruel.

Essentially.

And then in court they are falso hindered when it comes to defending themselves.

Hey all, been a while, a lot has happened! A little update, my bf got charged with domestic & my shoulder is sprained: things are in the works right now and my plan is to get an RV & GTF outta here!
If I had one more freight hop left in me, maybe two, I would take an NS 27A (auto rack) to Macon, get shuttled to Warner Robins to visit my friends since I haven't seen them for quite a while, then head back to Macon. Next up, maybe I would stay put under a skirted piggyback heading southbound to Jacksonville just to explore the Macon/Valdosta districts.
