Howdy, all. Thought I'd pick your brains a bit.
Been wandering around Cali for like a month and as it gets colder I find myself looking for a place to hole up for the winter, perhaps recharge my funds somehow and relax, plan for spring. A place with good houseless community services and nice people would be ideal.
I am considering Phoenix area, but the most appealing feature about that place is the weather. People have also suggested Texas, New Mexico, L.A., Florida....I'd like to stay west of the Mississippi if possible. I'm not oppossed to staying in Cali either, just want to keep my options open.
Among the other qualities I'm looking for in a place is somewhere introvert-friendly. By that I mean large enough that I don't feel smothered by close-contact with a limited number of people and have access to cultural resources (music shows, libraries, natural features, art collectives) that don't require me to have a car or know someone to involve myself with/be aware of. Access to realtively quiet, unpatrolled wilderness areas would also be ideal. For people who are trying to keep this information under a little cover, please feel to PM me.
What are some of your favorite places to spend a winter and why?
