I am 21 years of age, I am a student of woodlands survival, computer science, and gun-sports. My childhood and still best-friend is a professional artist. I don't know what to say in order to sound less pretentious but we are bored of the same street art, under the same safe conditions, and the added mobility of our rugged VW GTI X-D. SO . . . we were on a train bridge doing some work the other day . . . when we thought. . . why not hop all the way to Atlanta I mean we have the money but I'd rather spend 1/8 of what we do on our excursions and have a blast doing it right?
Since, im the 'security" and "navigator" it's my job to understand and learn all that I can about what YOU do.

My goal is to find someone who is familiar with the east coast and has experience hopping that might be interested in meeting ( in a station of coarse).

In exchange, drinks and dinner will be on us as well any questions you have that maybe we can help you with.
the picture is of me XD

Why a station? Thats for scamtrack kid. People dont hop passenger trains. Fuck this may be harder than i thought. Can you read? It may help to start reading everything on this site in order to not sound so out of place. Its a real niche subculture & most everyone wants to keep it that way. I just like free food, cheap beer, meeting new people & educating as its my nature.

What??? Taking advantage of young computer geeks is wrong? Free food & beer for me to tell them a few things & suggest they stay off the rails. To stay within the safe zone of their level 99 world of warcraft characters, suburban grafiti & scarface posters hung in the comfort of the bedrooms their loving parents still graciously provide rent free accomodation? I will be coming thru PA on route to Cleveland, 3/19 hit me up, noobs.

I don't know what this guy's problem is but, I am a student of survival. By no means am I an expert. I'm currently a 13:F and previously a 14:B in the PNG ( P.A. National Guard ).
Next, I'd like to express that I rent a house with my college buddies and am not associated with my family in any way.

So, let's stop the bullshit and get down to business. I have three months to understand what you do inside and out. I'm reading some books now about rail progression and markers. I need help on short-wave radio lingo and how to approach a "bull "and/or "Operator".
Safety is my number one concern; Navigation is my second.

I hold you all in high regard, I'd expect a shred of respect in return.

P.S. Scarface is a very nostalgic movie to me, piss off :D.

I understand that, I mean like a station like a rail yard. Kinda the same thing (in essence). But yeah, amtrack is bullshit. The tickets are insanely overpriced.

What happens in 3 months? Why are you approaching this as a class? True survival is an instinct, not a skill. You can learn all the skills & still not have a clue. This can be fun but its not recreational? I understand your a student of many things & that you are young & experienced in life, so i will take it easy on you a bit. I think that your part time enlistment & pogue mos's doesnt exactly peg you as an adrenaline junky. You may not think so but from my brief interaction you would make a suitable character on the "Big Bang Theory".

Why you think you need this skill in an alloted timeframe & why are you so naive that you think its attainable? If safety is your #1 than why not just drive the trusty Vdub? As far as navigation, there are lots of gadgets & info out there that kids use these days. I am unsure I can actually help you now. I have already reached my level of what i will do for a free meal, depending on how many drinks we are talking than thats another story.

I grew up in a criminal household hence why I moved out at 18. Also, instead of knocking my MOS how about you join up, also I was stationed as a 14B which is in no way a pogue MOS.
Survivalism is not just instinct, instinct does not teach you how to shoot a bow up to 30 yards accurate; or how to fire my AR at 200 meters away or what plants you can or can not eat, what snakes are constrictors, how to navigate without map and compass, and so on.

In fact, I don't think you have anything substantial to offer in our unique situation.
I think what I will do is gather logistics on the trains coming and going through Scranton. I'm just gonna read up on how to tell where a train is going and shit. The best teacher is experience.

I am a former USMC 0311/CBIRF. I am now 35 and by the time I was your age I had already traveled the country solo, had children, been in a deployed grunt unit & now have consistently worked in the worlds most high risk jobs for the past 15 years & travel in between. I am not some wet behind the ears, reservist/college student who speaks in riddles. Hopping trains is both dangerous & illegal! I am also not one of these safety nut railfans that goes around preaching for people to stay off trains. I think you are balls on about learning things yourself through actual experience. Those things that you state as survivalism are just tools, instinct, experience & common sense are the operating systems that will tell you what tools to use. Why is your situation so unique? You are two inexperienced kids that are planning some sort of secret mission that involves riding trains. It feels as if this is gonna be a recreational excercise like bungee jumping or white water rafting. There are plenty of young people that come on here without a clue, then 10 months later they will have 300 posts & think their an expert. I myself am no expert but I have a shit ton more real world experience than you. I have already provided substantial insight free of charge but I will offer one suggestion; Make a donation to STP if your able!

I respect your age and what you've done, it's amazing. It's not a secret mission but my friend is a somewhat high profile artist especially in the street medium, and I'd rather keep shit on the down-low because guess he wants to use the whole trip to gain influence in his work. Don't even ask me what that means because I have no clue rofl I'm no artist. Thanks for the info, im already talking to a few now about basic information.
