Me and two friends are thinking of camping the Boston Harbor Islands this weekend or next-- looking for any advice, tips or suggestions from anyone who knows about 'em.

We're planning to camp with nothing but sleeping bags (and food/water) just one night. We're aiming for one of the islands without proper camping facilities so we don't get caught/bothered by any rangers or what-have-you, but one of the islands that is still decently well sheltered with vegetation. (Thompson Island)

How easy is it to just buy roundtrip, leave one day, return the next? How bad are mosquitos without a tent? Is some other island better than Thompson? (For both being undisturbed, safe and scenic)

If you don't have protection from mosquitos, and you are in a place that has even a pretty small number of mosquitos they will drive you fuckin' nuts. Honestly it's partially about how good you are with not scratching bites, and just ignoring the little fuckers, but really if you're worried about mosquitos bring something to keep them away from you! A tent and some bugspray (or clothes that cover ur body well) will prevent against most of the unpleasantness.
(also a side note about mosquitos, if you're somewhere where there is stagnant fresh water and it isn't bellow freezing there are going to be some amount of mosquitos)

Honestly a short camping trip like that is easy peasy (wether you're stealth camping like you, or if you're doing it legally)! And if you prepare decently and aren't stupid about it you can have an amazing time!

Remember to be careful with food in the wilderness because there are animals that will go after it!

Hope my advice was helpful, there's a lot you can learn from little expeditions like this. : )
