Everyone on this website seems to be the sweetest people. My names kiera, I'm new to traveling and slightly nervous about it. im from michigan, I'm 17(but will be 18 by the time i hop on a train). I've never been into train travel until I stumbled upon this website. Originally I wanted to live in a van and travel around the US, but train rides seem so much more beautiful. I'm not really surehow to do a proper introduction, I'm mainly here to ask what the biggest worries of traveling are. I'm nervous about heading out east once the weather permits. Any advice would be so much appreciated. Stay save yall!

Well I can say hello. I started my travels at 17 as well. No trains. I hitched and I just plain hiked. As I got older, I went to the van lifestyle - for me, expensive but I lived 10 years out of one. Now, I travel with a bicycle and a trailer. I am 55 now and have had the best and worst experiences in chosen life style. That said, I wouldn't change nothing - the experience serves me well till this day. Have fun and check the train hopping forum.

Yes, I have a Daughter of age 35 now. I would take her with me in the summers after school. FOr schooling, her Mother or my folks would take her. Actually, we are the best of friends now at this point in life. SHe follows the journey, but she has chosen to live a life in and of society. A Grand Son and Grand Daughter as well. :D

Support StP!

Donations go towards paying our monthly server fees, adding new features to the website, and occasionally putting a burrito in Matt's mouth.

Total amount
$90.00
Goal
$100.00

Monthly Goals

  1. Paying the Bills
    $50.00 of $50.00 - reached!
The first $50 in donations go towards paying our monthly server fees and adding new features to the website. Once this goal is reached, we'll see about feeding Matt that burrito.
  2. Buy Matt a Beer
    $75.00 of $75.00 - reached!
Now that we have the bills paid for this month, let's give Matt a hearty thank you by buying him a drink for all the hard work he's done for StP. Hopefully his will help keep him from going insane after a long day of squishing website bugs.
  3. Feed Matt a Burrito
    $90.00 of $100.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt has a beer in his hand, how about showing him your love by rewarding all his hard work with a big fat burrito to put in his mouth. This will keep him alive while programming new features for the website.
  4. Finance the Shopping Cart
    $90.00 of $200.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt is fed, perhaps it's time to start planning for those twilight years under the bridge... if only he had that golden shopping cart all the oogles are bragging about these days.
