Okay, here is my take on this whole thing, true story. I can easily recall way back in the 90's during the back end of my teenage life, I was living in Centerville, GA at the time. I became one of many owners of a Sony PlayStation. Then there was a what used to be a Food Lion store down the street. When I found out they were selling copies of a magazine which had PlayStation demo discs, it was so friggin' easy to walk away with the disc and put the magazine back on the shelf. I have also walked out with free batteries and never got caught; even with cameras in many different angles, there was hardly anyone there to even try to apprehend me. It was a failing grocery store altogether which finally closed down.

Back in high school I got apprehended for taking $2 from a jacket and again for taking $5 from a pair of pants, but I did make it out with $20 from a locker. I never faced jail time or got sent to ISS but I did get transferred to an alternative school.

Finally, I got bored from shoplifting and a little bit of thievery. I chose to take my own path and get back in education or what's left of it. After about 5 years in high school, I was recognized as an honor graduate from my real high school in 2002. The reason it took 5 years instead of what is usually 4, is because I had 5 different state graduation tests to take, so when I finished my senior year, I only passed 3 of them. So in my repeated senior year I finally passed the remaining 2 I failed before. Years later, I pulled a 7 year job at what used to be a Sears store doing receiving - and sure enough. There were employees at the time that were trying to be what I used to be. Next thing, about four employees tried to either shoplift or manipulate gift cards/transactions (fraud). As a result, it was handcuff, instant termination, and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out while the police took them out one by one.

And so I am living happily in Brunswick for now, working a normal lifestyle and waiting for the next place that only God take me to when the time is right. If I want anything for free these days, I don't have to worry about shoplifting anymore. I got something better than that now. Thanks for reading and understanding, I'm fine for now. :)

You should steal something from work. All the cool people do it. You want to be cool, don't you?

Honestly if I want to steal something now a days, it would only be a free ride on a freight train haha! To me, that is what it feels like. That would only be as far as I would go. I appreciate the offers from the both of you, but I'd rather not steal something if I can help it. To me, I would rather be a gentleman and ask about things before I would ever take it.

What did you do when you saw your fellow employee stealing from your work? Talk to the boss, talk to the theives, or just look the other way?

In reference to the Sears I worked at: while all shoplifting and fraud activities occurred directly on the sales floor, I was in the receiving dock 90% of the time. So if anyone did anything, asset protection would be the ones to speak up. Hardly anyone would take anything from the receiving dock.

What did you do when you saw your fellow employee stealing from your work? Talk to the boss, talk to the theives, or just look the other way?

I once stole thousands of dollars from the register at work over a six month period. Then the CEO stole all the money in the business' bank account and fled the country. The company went out of business the next day and the employees didn't even get their last paycheck. So what I stole would have gotten stolen anyways, and who I stole it from was also a thief. I got away with it and I will never be sorry.

I used to steal/shoplift constantly.
It was a hobby and sport and something I constantly refined. In my late 20s I lived by the rule for every dollar I spent I had to steal a dollar. I felt righteous in doing so.

Somewhere along the line of maturation my morality changed and I dont believe in it any longer. (though I still munch whatever I want and chug a green machine while grocery shoppin).
I aint a snitch and have no problem w others stealing from corporations, but for me it just turned into being the opposite side of the same evil.
Ive never had an issue w earning money w short term work, now I do my best to spend money at places that arent absolutely horrible.

I've been caught shoplifting 12 times, I agree 110% with @MFB, and yeah, shoplifting is just the other side of the same evil.

Donations go towards paying our monthly server fees, adding new features to the website, and occasionally putting a burrito in Matt's mouth.

Total amount
$15.00
Goal
$100.00

Monthly Goals

  1. Paying the Bills
    $15.00 of $50.00
The first $50 in donations go towards paying our monthly server fees and adding new features to the website. Once this goal is reached, we'll see about feeding Matt that burrito.
  2. Buy Matt a Beer
    $15.00 of $75.00
Now that we have the bills paid for this month, let's give Matt a hearty thank you by buying him a drink for all the hard work he's done for StP. Hopefully his will help keep him from going insane after a long day of squishing website bugs.
  3. Feed Matt a Burrito
    $15.00 of $100.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt has a beer in his hand, how about showing him your love by rewarding all his hard work with a big fat burrito to put in his mouth. This will keep him alive while programming new features for the website.
  4. Finance the Shopping Cart
    $15.00 of $200.00
Now that the bills are paid and Matt is fed, perhaps it's time to start planning for those twilight years under the bridge... if only he had that golden shopping cart all the oogles are bragging about these days.
