Detroit? In January? hmm...

K, so my friend wants to to go visit him in Detroit. Our birthdays are close together so he thought of the genius idea of combining them and having an early party in mid January. He's got a place for me to crash and all that jazz.

only question I have is... is Detroit worth the price of a plane ticket? I had planned on driving initially but then realized I don't wanna and a ticket would cost the same, if not less, than gas round trip.

I've never been to this desolate city but always been interested. Share your stories, suggestions, rants, whatever! I wanna know more about the place before I say yes to the deal.

the mass amount of abandoned shit is what is really enticing me (second to seeing my old buddy)

hopefully things will work out an I'll get to go.

have you heard of trumbleplex?
trumbullplex is great. actually, the only friends i have in detroit are just down the street from there, on trumbull near mlk and a really ghetto family dollar. if you want, i can get you in touch with some cool kids in that area who live at a house called crow manor. i stayed with them for almost a month or so when i was there last. great group, lots of travelling types who now roost there year-round. met them at punk week through a mutual friend, and was sad to leave them by the end of it.
