American discovery trail?

I'm thinking about doing it. Maybe on bike, maybe on skateboard. Can people give me any tips or information or anything like that? What am

i'd suggest a bike personally. check out the bike touring section here. i've posted several times about the adventure cycling association's bike maps, they're extremely useful.
