Every tent I've ever used had to be sprayed down with scotchguard type stuff to make it really water proof. Make sure the floor extends up into the air a bit instead of just being sewn to the sides at ground level.

the liners are good to have, but usually not worth the price wanted for them. one mil issue poncho can make some great shelters, but with two of them you own the world! if you find a liner for under ten bucks might be good to have one. follow the links for poncho shelter construction...

dont put it in a washing machine. hang it and hand wash it. they are awesome pieces of gear!
