Any Good Routes Out of L.A?

I know SoCal sucks. Believe me, I know. It's one of the only places I've ever hitched. But I've never had that much fun hitching in SoCal. So I'm wondering, are there ANY easy to routes coming out of L.A? I don't even care which direction It's headed. All I'm looking for is a route that won't...

By now you've probably heard me run my mouth about how I'm going to slab city next fall or the fall after that, but I figure I'd get some hitching in and test out a route at the same time. So I felt like going to palm springs. I've been oce or twice but never hitched there. I live in LA and the...

Entering Canada/Mexico with state ID rather than passport?

I was wondering if it's at all possible to enter either Canada or Mexico with just a state ID as opposed to a passport. And if so would the US let me back in? I'm from California if that matters.

    Traveling with small animals

Throughout my insomnia I've been thinking about traveling with small animals i.e. bugs, lizards, fish, etc. While I suppose they'd be cheaper to feed I'm not sure how easy it would be to keep them in a manageable tank/cage. I mean it'd be great to carry around a madagascar hissing cockroach...

    USGI 4-piece sleep system

I was wondering if anyone here uses the USGI 4-piece sleep system. I've heard it can keep you alive down to -40°F. That's ideal for me as I'm planning on going full-time soon and am hoping to see Montana. Has anyone used it and if so do you recommend it? if so I might be able to get one for $110.

Is 25 liter enough for a backpack?

Hey all, I recently bought a 25 liter Fox Outdoors "Rio Grande" hiking/tactical backpack from an army surplus store. I got it for a steal which is the only reason I bought it. Anyway, right now I only use it for hiking, but as eviction from my parent's house is inevitable, and I'm still new to...
