    Hi from Alberta canada

I second Quartzite! It's been almost 20 years since I spent a winter there. Thousands of alt living people camped out in the desert. There's lot of good hiking around, KOFA area, Palm Canyon etc. Go vibe with the sagueros!

I forgot the two biggest scumbum lyricists of all time! Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley were two Austin cowboy alcoholics in the 80s. Kicked out of every club and drinking rotgut they wrote some incredible songs. Townes was famous for " Pancho and Lefty" but he also wrote the best blues song...

Anybody hear Anarchy by Utah Phillips and Ani diFranco? Kind of about hopping trains, anarchy, pacifism and privilege. Also "Bum On The Rod", Utah has lots of old hopping and bumming stories and songs from the 60s. He also interviewed old bums and Wobblies from the 1910s and 20s, and put it to...

Not hating life this winter, I guess??

Hi Honeycrust, Glad your winter in laramie is good. I spent a few years there in the early 2000s. Did outdoor framing on campus one winter, damn that was cold. Used to work at the Buckhorn for awhile too. I was wondering if the homeless man/homeless advocate Jeffrey was still around? He had...

So, what ya'll think about having kids?

Hey everybody- my two cents about kids- Definitely get and train a dog as well as growing a decent garden. If you can daily attend to both with love you are probably ready. Also it's really hard to raise a kid on the road/off grid and keep up healthcare and dental etc. I raised my son off grid...

Silverton is beautiful. Love the San Juan's. Went to a lot of hot springs around there, lots of good people. Colorado Springs was really pretty when I passed thru, but it was only a few days.

Hi I'm Bozorg, longtime lurker, friend of the road.

Thanks friend, things are much better now, I've come a long ways since my first days on the streets begging. Since it was possible for me to get sober and on my feet and raise a compassionate kid; I think anybody is capable to become what they dream. Much love to all going thru rough times

Hi I'm Bozorg, longtime lurker, friend of the road.

Hi everybody, I'm Bozorg, I'm a semi retiree from the road looking for destination ideas and roadstories. I hitched and tramped around the west from 2000-2009 and wish this site existed when I was 19. They called me Alcoholic Jr. back then, I was a mess for years and am now sober 7 yrs. 1st...
