"It shall also be noted that any person found trespassing the railway tracks will be liable for prosecution under Section 147 of the IR Act, 1989 which entails punishment with imprisonment for a term up to six months, or with fine Rs 1,000 or both." - from google Didn't find anything about...

Video Traveling on freight trains in China

Be careful man, all trains here have an employee at the end of the train, in a caboose if its a freighter. They're called 'guards' (and my dad is one! Although he worked in freight trains when he first joined the railways and he works on passenger trains now as he is a veteran). Also, it might...

This was a fun watch! Gotta admire your bravery, catching out in a place like China would be pretty unnerving even for seasoned hoppers!

Stay Out of Minneapolis/St. Paul For Now

Thing is, violent protests are convenient to the cops because then they can justify using force. And normal citizens aren't ever going to outpower people armed with government funding. And didn't the Hong Kong protests have pretty wide spread coverage?

I'm new to this site - so grateful it exists - and wanted to introduce myself

All the best to you! Yeah travel can be hella therapeutic my man...if you know Hobo Shoestring (he has a youtube channel) he lost his young boy to an accident at 3/4 years of age back in the 90's. It may not seem it at this point but the hurt will decrease with time. From what I read about your...

    In India

Becausa this ^ . 1.Given that Indian Railways is the largest organization in the world in terms of employed people, its very unlikely that I'll go undetected for more than 5km on the ride. Railway Police, Track Workers so on. Oh, and sometimes civilians can tip off the officials too. 2.The only...

Dude from India. Really not a pervert, I swear. Just a broke assed third worlder who dreams of seeing the world.

Thank you for your wishes :) And hey maybe I'll get around the whole state and may show you around one day eh?

The reason why I'm 20 and haven't been anywhere in my own country is because I have helicopter parents, dude. I originate from Kerala but was living in Pune, Maharashtra for pretty much my whole life and came back here to study engineering. Thought I'd get some freedom, but my mom moved here...

Wow I never thought of it that way. Guess I'd hasten to know my cities better so that I can show people like you around and make some (hopefully longtime) friends in the process! As I'm currently living with my parents, I don't have the liberty to register as a host on CouchSurfing but if I get...

Oh my god the passport thing is so true, Tony. That thing really narrows down the destinations tourable for the shoestring budgeted Indian traveller. Also, the poor western travellers come down here to Asia to tour on budget, while we have nowhere else to go, haha. Just a fun thought I had...

They do, actually. Its pretty rare for the ticket checkers to show up in the general compartment, but if they do they will show you hell. And a general compartment ticket wouldn't set you back much actually, probably a 100 rupees for travel halfway across the country

What you said makes sense. I gotta look up the cheap countries I can get to easily with an Indian passport. Or just go around seeing my own country for that matter. Thanks, Lupo!

Yes I'm close to finishing the degree actually, only a year and a half left. But the problem with hopping trains here is that our wagons don't have handy little hiding spots at either ends...they're pretty much vertical. And as to hitchhiking, the people are more likely to help you when you're a...

Hello to everyone here. The title of the thread says everything about me, really. I'm a 20 yo guy from India and from a dysfunctional middle class family, so I don't think I'll ever get to go out of this POS country. Currently in the third year of my engineering course, I've never travelled per...

    In India

Hey man, did you ever end up train hopping in India? I'm a poor dude who might never leave this country, so I'm just looking around to see if there are people that train hop in India so that I can do so in the future too. I would be glad if you got back to me on this. Edit: NVM, I saw the...
