    Car insurance (and FMOL)

I tend to shop around for better insurance rates at least once per year. Usually somebody is willing to cut a few bucks from your rate just to get your business. Also idk about other states, but in PA driving without insurance will get your car towed and your license revoked for a few months....

Learning banjo, where to start/what to avoid?

Imo, your quickest route to being able to play along with other folks will be to learn your basic chords. Most songs use a handful of the same chords in varying patterns. Find yourself a nice chord chart with the basic major and minor chords to start. To help find out which ones you'll use...

News & Blogs The latest trend in RV'ing: Getting way off the grid

I recently came across a video of a couple who quit the RV lifestyle after 5 years because it's become so blown up that they can't get places to stay. It's a bummer for sure.

News & Blogs Why the ‘Chris McCandless Bus’ Was Removed From Alaska’s Wilderness

Near my home in PA a popular hiking trail (Glen Onoko) was permanently closed due to too many accidents and injuries. Most of these were caused by improper footwear and/or inexperienced, out of shape hikers. Now nobody can enjoy the trail. I don't care for this baby proofing of reality. Life is...

Been worktrading for 4 years. Message me if you have questions.

That sounds pretty cool. Farming has been the most rewarding sort of work I've done, even if it is often labor intensive. Do you use any particular resources to find gigs?

Is it worth ditching my tarp for a bivy?

That's the one I was referring to- I think that's what we're all talking about. I actually use the whole 3 piece system, but it is stupid heavy and bulky.

Is it worth ditching my tarp for a bivy?

I use one of the army surplus bivy bags and love it. That being said, if you're expecting rain, the tarp gives you the option of a dry place to hang out. While a bivy bag does a great job of keeping you and your sleeping bag dry, it doesn't offer much in the way of an enjoyable place to chill out.

    Bernie Sanders

Just went to his rally in Austin tonight. Seemed like the most bang for the buck entertainment-wise for Sunday night... Anywho, he says a lot of pretty good stuff. Medicare for all, pot federally legalized from day 1 in office, abolishing private prisons, free public colleges, ending ICE raids...

    Sunken Jeep in the Keys

Went back and snorkeled around it bit. Glove box was already open🙁 But there were probably 1000+ fish all around and inside it, so that was cool. Wish I had a submersible camera!

New squat member heading to AZ

I grew up on a small farm with my family. It was really just a hobby farm more or less, just a couple hundred chickens, 20ish goats, peacocks, etc. They made some bucks at it though. But I've also worked on Christmas tree farms and helped at a potato farm and a nursery. No matter what type of...

drive in movie theaters - anywhere

There's a lot more in PA than I was aware of. Somebody mentioned like 3 or 4, and none of them was the Garden Drive-in of West Nanticoke, PA. Grew up close to it. Sneak your friends in in the trunk or under a blanket. Double features on two screens. Spring through Fall it has a decent flea...

    Sunken Jeep in the Keys

I really wanted to take a dinghy out there and check the lagoon out better, but it'll be too much of a stretch in borrowed dinghy. Probably would be a doable overnighter. I think I'll head back later in the week with a mask and snorkel. Might even be some goodies in the glove box!

Im about to buy an RV

What make/model? I owned a 1980 Toyota Huntsman that was my trusty dusty for over 2 years. There's a lot to think about with RVs, especially depending on how the camper portion was constructed. It was of the old style RV construction (1x3's, foam board insulation and aluminum exterior...

Not hating life this winter, I guess??

It's always good to hear when people are doing well. I've been spending my winter floating around south FL. Currently in the keys working in exchange for housing. Loving the weather here, but I'm looking forward to heading west when the time comes.

Who lives on 2 wheels? Scooter tramp, motorcycle hobo

Travelling by motorcycle right now. It's been about 2 months since I set out. Admittedly, I've ended up housed most of that time with family and friends. That wasn't the plan- I'm all geared up for camping, but I'm not one to turn down a comfy place and some side dough when it comes around.

    Where to go?

Main thing is staying dry. I use a bivy bag over my sleeping bag with either a tarp or tent when I have to. Sounds like between your bag and the clothes you should be warm enough for a while.
