    how do you kill snakes?

With an ax! Even with the head clean off, rattlesnakes make a lot of reflexive movements for a decent amount of time after you get 'em. I've heard this can include posthumous biting, so wait a while before slicing the thing up.

Featured Stupid things the cops have said to you?

Oh, oh, I have an Humboldt cop one too! They are none to happy about traveler dogs, eh? I was with a few people sitting in some random grassy spot in Arcata, behind a store or something, and a cop rolls up and after asking us all our names, hometowns and "And what are you doin' in my town?"...

    my first hitch

I think Mouse said it best; only thing I'd add is don't plan to bring more stuff than you can carry. Shipping your stuff to your supposed destination? Bad idea, not only because of what happened on your trip but also even if you had succeeded in hitching and getting somewhere fun you might've...

    Bio-Female Hitching Alone?

True that. I've thought vaguely of hitching alone but man, I can't even walk home alone at night without getting harassed/followed/etc. Bullshit.

    peeling away inbetween my toes?!?

I've been rubbing oil from garlic cloves and soaking my foot in hot salt water and the nasty has cleared up almost completely. I highly suggest it; hasn't been long enough to tell if it's gone for good, but the garlic stops the itching immediately.

    Somewhat Unfortunate

I got an infraction ticket (merrr, shoplifting..) in Arcata with the court date mid-May (which, when I got the ticket, was about a month away). There was no way I was sticking around for that crap, but I like Humboldt County and didn't want to have any warrants. So I just went down to the court...

Seriously? What the hell is this fight about? If one of my friends died and I found out strangers were talking shit I'd flip out, too. What exactly happened when this kid died is basically irrelevant. He's dead. Respect the grieving people he left behind, don't walk on the tracks like a...

Interesting, I was kinda thinking along these lines today when I told my dogs off for trying to hunt down a bird that got stuck in our porch - room walled with windows, ya know, bird kept flying into the glass trying to get out - and then I thought, why am I trying to supress their animal...

Electricians, and other awesome people needed in the East Bay

Well, we'd been telling inquiring neighbors (who were mostly ecstatic that someone was finally doing something about this house that had been abandoned for over 10 years) and nosy po-po that we had an agreement with the owner to work on the house. The city got wind of this and contacted/fined...

I hate my life. I journaled that exact sentence a couple of weeks ago, realizing so many things in myself that I was trying to change via travel. warm ideas for sleeping in winter.

My friend is an Eagle scout and does a lot of winter camping, when I asked him for handy boy scout tips, first thing he told me is to never get a cotton sleeping bag (apparently cotton absorbs the moisture from your body, making you colder).
