    Vanlife during the pandemic

The biggest challenges for me living in my van during the pandemic has been the closure of rec centers to shower, and the lack of socializing with pals. I have been living in the small city of Victoria BC, on vancouver island, so the covid cases here compared to other cities arent as much, but...

Anyone in canada start traveling yet?

I left BC last month.. kicking it around Toronto until the weather warms up. Then i'm hitching east..hopefully out to Newfoundland! definitely still cold east of Quebec, but hey, if you're equipped for the cold, its all good.

Do you recommend traveling with or without a vehicle?

I have done quite a bit of hitch hiking. I have also experienced what it is like to live and travel in a van. They are two very different ways of living, and they both have their pros and cons. If you have the income, traveling in a vehicle gives you a lot of freedom, comfort, and security. It...

Punk in Sudbury, New to travel.

Hey! I'm heading back east to Ontario this month. I've been in BC for a long time now and I'm itching to get back on the road. I'm going back to Toronto, so I'll be passing through your area. I'll hit you up if I end up stopping in Sudbury!

    Car dwelling

I am thinking about doing something similar with a hatchback. I was going to get a van, but i want something smaller so it is better on gas. I was wondering though, how do you have a flat surface in the back of your car if the seats are out? And, what kind of car is it?

    Europe with a dog

I am pretty sure that service dogs are allowed on airplanes. If they are certified and have all the paperwork, pretty sure it just sits right under your seat. It shouldnt be a problem unless you have a really big dog.

BARF (Bones And Raw Food) On The Road

honestly, just buy high quality food and soak it before you feed it to your pup. Cover the kibble with water and let it sit for a few mins. This will help prevent bloating, which is especially an issue with larger breed dogs, like pitbulls. i feed my 7 month old pup the taste of the wild puppy...

BARF (Bones And Raw Food) On The Road

unless you always have access to fresh meat every day, or have a fridge/freezer, i would recommend sticking to kibble. The thing is, once you go raw, you gotta stick with raw. You can't switch back and forth because raw meat and kibble each digest at different rates. kibble takes a lot longer to...

Featured What They Don't Tell You About Having A Road Dawg (Or Cat)

If you wanna go the natural way, there are treats you can buy that are all natural with added herbs and amino acids like L-Theanine, Chamomile, Lemon balm, etc. There are lots of different brands that make different formulas, and they have worked wonders for my pup when she is in a situation...

    Thinking about buying a van

VW buses can be tricky. now a days they are very expensive to buy one that actually runs. I would go for a cargo van or mini van depending on how much space you need. Whatever you do though, make sure to have specific savings put aside just for repairs cause i would suck to have to ditch it on...

    Adopted my pup!

I have been wanting a dog for years now and I finally got her. I picked her up about a week ago from some lady who posted an ad on kijiji, saying that her son was allergic to the dog. She is almost 4 months old, so there is a lot she still needs to learn. I am planning to spend the winter months...

    Supplements that help focus??

Fish oil high in DHA can help brain function over time, yes. A really good company that makes supplements for the brain is called 3 Brains. Specifically the product "Cloud Nine" and "Brain Defense". Although, any of the products can help. You could find them in any health food store or vitamin shop.

    Skate shoes or hiking shoes?

Any shoe that is comfortable is for sure the best way to go. Doesnt really matter what kind of shoe as long as its durable and comfortable. Hiking shoes sounds like a good way to go. Combat boots can get super hot in the summer, and sneakers can wear out easily.

    18 in 1 Soap

Oh that's good to know.. won't recommend it for shaving. i was just quoting what the website says. When i found out you could use it as toothpaste I was too curious and actually tried it. I used the almond scented one and it actually wasnt too bad. It felt very soapy, but didnt taste that way. I...

    Making lighter gear darker?

I'm not sure how well it would work on the tarp, but maybe try stitching pieces of black/brown fabric and patches on the sleeping bag. It might take a while, but then at least its reversible if you ever want the orange back.

    Lone Female Hitchhikers

Thanks! I will try my hardest :) Yeah, i know what you mean. I feel like i could get my way out of a situation like that just by bullshitting my way out. A blade or knife would be smart. I wouldn't be able to physically use it, but it would definitely work to deter anyone from getting closer...

Is it a dumb idea to travel with a duffel bag?

If you can, check out second hand clothing stores or even kijiji. People are always getting rid of decent and barely worn shoes. I found a pair of leather docs (the hiking shoe style) at a thrift store near me for $8. It's all about luck, but it's worth a try :)
