    Ashland Oregon's "problem" with travelers

I graduated high school in Ashland and still have a lot of friends there. I also have a lot of friends that are a part of the long distance hiking community and Ashland is the first stop in Oregon along the Pacific Crest Trail. I am glad to see a slightly more positive article for once, from...

    injuries? who's got stories?

Alright kids... Here it goes... First ones are from my car wreck. I was in the passenger seat. Three broken ribs, six fractured vertabre, asperated lungs and a ruptured breast implant (haha I know, the airbags in my 4Runner didn't go off, but mine did...) That is followed by when my lab tripped...

2016 Jamboree Giving back to the Lizard Tree Library

*on the ant situation and storage... I don't know if anyone else has these, but because of hiking the PCT in 2014, I have a bear canister that I store my food in. Maybe if anyone has one/ a spare/ etc. they could be sure to store their food in it if possible? I know it's not the most common...

Looking in Montana or the Yukon for a good spot

I would recommend Yaak, MT area... Give it a look. I know a lot is Forest Service land, which isn't Ideal, but I lived in that area, in the Kootenai Mountains and it is possible.

    Extreme Climate Techniques and Tricks

Thankfully when I was "outside" in Montana during the winter, I had my Dozer dog. We would find somewhere with "insulation" (pine needles on the ground, leaves, whatever wasn't just solid ground) and curl up together with a wool blanket. The wool was itchy as hell but it stayed warm even when...

Picking yourself up from new lows???

I go for a hike when I can't travel. I have been stuck in NC for the last year and a half because my mother is pretty sick. I'm back living with the folks (at 32) to help take care of her and I would rather rip my fucking hair out. When it gets to be too much, I get someone to come help my dad...

    Hello from North Carolina

I totally understand your need to go west. I am in NC right now as well but was born and raised in Seattle. I can't wait to get back to the best coast. Currently caring for a sick parent so it won't be as soon as I would like but I always end up back on that side of the country.

    CrashTest and Dozer

Hey there... I came to the travel game late in life. Well, I think I just realized it later. Since turning 21 I have bounced all over the USA. My longest housed up spot was NC for 6 years because I had a pretty cool gig working in Nascar so I actually was on the move every weekend, even during...

Featured Stupid things the cops have said to you?

I was in NC and got a ride from a few dudes in a 4 door pick-up. The truck was pretty full so I sat in the middle in the back. Cops pull them over (I guess the kid driving was 19 so he was their DD from the bar) and the FIRST words out of his mouth after shining the flashlight around was "Oh...
