    Bridgeport punx

I moved to Bridgeport, Chicago in July and have noticed a lot of punks and queers walking around. Anyone in the area wanna meet up and show me good places to dumpster dive?

Photos So, my wheel almost fell off.

Glad things worked out! I went to check out a van earlier this year and the front driver side wheel came off completely during the test drive (luckily it was parked at the time). I spent the whole trip home going through a mixture of amusement and then horror when I thought what if the wheel had...

Any advice for locking my truck cap from the inside?

If it was positioned vertically maybe? I'd have to secure it without damaging the window.

Any advice for locking my truck cap from the inside?

I'll take a look online to see if I can find any info on how to do this but This is the cap it has on the back for reference. The bed door can't really be opened without unlocking the t-handle on the window so as long as I can get that secured from the inside I won't have anybody getting in...

Any advice for locking my truck cap from the inside?

Last year I got a really solid Chevy Silverado with a cap on the back and I've been spending the last few months very slowly fixing it up. It's about ready to hit the road! Just needs new tires, a minor repair to the tailpipe, and a locking t-handle so people can't get in and take my shit. I've...

Anyone learning another language? How's it going? Here are some resources.

I've been learning Irish on and off for a few years but it's tough to get used to without a conversational partner. I've been using Duolingo and books but recently decided to take a break and work on Swedish since I know someone who speaks it (using Duolingo for that too). There's too many I...

Photos My first truck (and soon-to-be home)

Brought it back from the mechanic today. Needs more work that I would like but less than I'd imagined so all in all I'm really happy I got it. Some of the work can be done by me so I'm excited for this opportunity to learn more about taking care of a truck.

looking to meet some cool new people

Hey Stephen! Welcome to StP. I'm pretty new here myself but it's a sweet community. Not sure if I'm exactly cool but I'm always down for meeting new people.

Photos My first truck (and soon-to-be home)

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm not a very car savvy person and definitely want to take this opportunity to learn more about repairing my own vehicle (unless it's something I absolutely can't do myself) and now I know what to start looking for.

Photos My first truck (and soon-to-be home)

My thoughts exactly. The camper is an old '74 El Dorado that's been sitting in the woods for about a decade. It recently had new floors put in but aside from that not much maintenance has been done. It needs a fair amount of work (mostly cleaning, replacing some stuff, etc.) but it has a...

Photos My first truck (and soon-to-be home)

A few weeks back I started looking for a vehicle and had just proclaimed yesterday that I was sick and tired of combing through trucks and vans on craigslist. And then in a halfhearted late night search I come across this nice '95 Silverado and figure I might as well text the guy. He answered...

I don't know if I should be concerned or ecstatic.

One time me and this other guy found half a cake sitting on a table outside his school. Everybody was busy watching two idiots fight each other so we just sat there and enjoyed free cake.

Anyone else feel like changing directions?

I agree with you. It's true you don't need to go to school to be a good artist. If I wasn't trying to learn animation I probably wouldn't be in school. I don't feel like I need school to improve my art, but it has been helpful for learning the fundamentals of animation. The issue isn't producing...

Anyone else feel like changing directions?

I guess the big thing was the overall attitude change in school this past semester. Things just shifting suddenly to "we're going to teach you how to produce stuff in as little time as possible so you can survive in the competitive industry", which has left me really disillusioned towards making...

Anyone else feel like changing directions?

I thought coming home and spending time away from the city would soothe my wanderlust, but I guess that's not going to work. I'm desperately looking for a way to change directions in my life and get on the road. Looking at affordable cars big enough for me to curl up inside and sleep in makes me...

    "Normal" life

On top of that the people who say getting out of the draining routine of work, eat, sleep, pay bills (rinse, repeat) are often unhappy too! But hey at least they're of "value to society" (unlike those good-for-nothing vagabonds gosh darnit).

    "Normal" life

Yeah I mean it's tough to get around work altogether. Building a permanent camp or sailing the Mississippi definitely doesn't sound easy, but it does sound a hell of a lot more satisfying than sitting in a building all day doing tasks for somebody else. I've spent all semester hearing from my...

    "Normal" life

This is all really speaking to me right now. I transferred to a four year college last year and this spring has been so stressful my hair's actually started falling out. A lot of people seem to see my desire to live simply - so I spend less time at a job and more time doing things I enjoy that...

    Hello!

I'm going to Columbia College for animation. And no I haven't climbed it! I spent a good chunk of my life in Chicago but haven't explored much outside of Rogers Park.

    Hello!

I chose ragingwoodcock because Woodcock's in my name so it felt like an appropriate username haha I really like working with ink and pencils, but I work digitally as well (my icon is a good example of that).

    Hello!

I'm an artist and student currently living in Chicago and I'm looking to meet some people who know the city or are at least interested in exploring with me. I'm not much of a city person but getting into things like foraging and dumpster diving helps make living here easier so I'd like to do...
