Actually did some riding back in the 90s. Then kids, family and the obligations that come with that happened(and glad they did). But that itch to get out was always there. That spark deep down. Now the kids have left the nest and its time to catch out again.
Never too late to go on an adventure! That’s awesome you’re kids are all grown and your able to get back out there. I wish you the best of luck with all your travels!

Just out of curiosity, have u kept up with the ways things have changed?

It'd be cool to read a write up of ur thoughts n experiences with traveling then vs now once u get back out.

Are u trynna go full time or just some joy rides?

No, just starting to look back into it. No smart phones back when I did it. Had the old nokia cell phones, but those weren't of any use for riding. Internet was in its infancy. That's why I came to this site. I've watched Shoestrings videos on YT and some things are exactly the same others aren't. Seems like there's not near as many riders as there were back in the 90s. I used to have a friend who worked for UP that taught me a lot, but he passed on.

Good luck! Where ya headed?

Not sure. Big heat wave right now. Fortunately I'm good at dealing with adversity so I can deal with it if I have to, but as I get older I've realized I'd rather find an alternative. So if I were to head out right now, I'd head north. But as it is, I'd like to work through the summer and save up more money and head out in the fall. I'll probably do like I did when I was a kid and just do day jaunts at first. I would head out and ride for a day or so, then wait until I could find the ride back in a day or two. Just get my feet wet again and see how old I feel doing it now compared to 20 years ago. ; )
