How far north? Your surrounded by NF up there.
Years ago, but I remember Marble mountian being ruggedly beautiful but easily accessible. Beautiful alpine lakes.
Can't imagine too many folks being up that high this time of year. I'd reckon you could find a spot fairly easily.

I would try to find a trail illustrated for 6 rivers or a topo map online, find a forest service road that leads somewhere cozy and search for a spot. ;)

As far north as I can, and still be on Cali. Somewhere to lay low during this virus thing. May plant some seeds, for the next one who stumbles on the same spot.

I know California is a squatter friendly state.

There's people that live in the redwoods out near Arcata. I think mostly hippy types. Year round, so remote enough for that, or else forestry service let's them be, Idk. Haven't been out there myself, but one lady I grew up with lives out there.

I live near Arcata, California which is about as liberal and free as you can get. California is NOT a squatter friendly state. The police regularly raid homeless camps and try to harass them away. There are better social services in California than many states, but even that seems to be dwindling due to a combination of more people headed here for the generous handout, and president chump doing everything he can to cut it off. Squatting on Forest Service land might work for awhile, but they have their own law enforcement constantly monitoring for illegal pot grows on their land. Also, you’ll eventually have to go to town for food, where you’ll of course be exposed to potential coronavirus. Definitely better to be in a low population dense place wherever you go.
