Hi!

You may have seen that I am planning a trip from Toronto to Mexico City during summer 2020 in my most recent post. I am still in the intro part of my research and reading on Hitchhiking and all that I need to know. I'm going to be posting all around the forums to gain information and share experiences/information, but wanted to stay in contact with a few individuals that have been to Mexico before and not on a resort or whatnot. The purpose of this would be so I can prepare and learn from ya'll as it seems that many of you have had incredible experiences. I'd like to be able to stay in contact, share experiences, advice/tips, maybe learn some Spanish if possible, and of course create new friendships :)!

I am so intrigued by this community and am glad to have the chance to take part! Thanks again!

Omar

I have taken 7 trips though Mexico over the years. Mostly by bicycle. And I love Mexico outside the resort areas. I have only been hitch hiking very little in Mexico, but you might be able to get a small impression about the roads running through Mexico if you take a look at some of the photos I have posted from my various cycling trips around this amazing country: Cycling on the roof of Mexico. - http://travellingclaus.com/cycling-roof-mexico/

Mexico is an awesome and vibrant country with so much to do. I've been twice in the past 2 years, Yucatan and Mexico City.

I'd be glad to help and maybe even join if you need a road buddy. I haven't hitchhiked there but the people are very friendly if you can speak enough spanish to get your point across. If all else fails you can always catch a bus outta town for pretty cheap.

I did get shaken down by the cops for having a beer in public in Mexico City but that was my own dumb fault for not paying attention and speaking spanish to them trying to get out of it. LOL

Would you say Hitchhiking from Toronto, Canada through the US to Mexico City is possible if I don't speak any Spanish at all?
Also, are you from around Mexico? It would be nice if I could meet individuals and build friendships along the way.

I'm also curious about this, however, I do speak Spanish.
Deaf people don't speak and they get by alright, you should be ok.
I'd do it myself, but my primary concern is strays attacking my dog.
