Been stinking this place up for some time...ready to take some blame for it:
Today marks 3 years since i set out(approx 2.91666 yrs on StP). Had always been a subversive dirt bag but was busy raising radical rugrats until they left the roost.
On April 1, 2016 I began a 300-mi walkabout along the mighty Willamette(rhymes with damnit) River, from Portland to Eugene, OR. For 28 days, I earned my stripes stealth camping, living out of a pack, navigating w/out a smartphone, rationing beer money, etc.
My shoes disintegrated with 40mi to go, but I made to EUG, where some kid told me about StP and y'all have been by my surrogate dysfunctional family ever since.
Meanwhile, in no particular order:
-hitched/hopped/rubber tramped
-squatted a riverfront condo
-rescued a pro wrestler
-got to know @MolotovMocktail's mom really well
-gained a dog friend/lost a dog friend
-got first 4 tattoos
-destroyed my false teeth
-hosted 37 guests in 3 months at the short-lived NoPrezRez
-boofed countless household objects
-earned my first bench warrant
-gained a truck/lost a truck
-sucked a dick
-attended 2 Jambos(only one of which I remember)
-spent 3 mos in rehab
-had my first close encounter
-taught myself uke/lost a uke
-lost the tip of my thumb(unrelated to the boofing)
-allowed a rat to crawl all the way up my pant leg
-spent the night in/on/at 3 cemeteries, 5 playground structures, 2 skate parks, a golf course, a Denny's, a lifeguard dinghy, Glenn County jail, a junkyard, a docked ferry, an attic, a cop shop, a locker room, a naval observatory, 2 tennis courts, a parking garage, a bar, a library, and a library with a bar.
StP has become such a crucial community for me. I've met dozens of rad fuckers in person and made many connections with folks I will one day get to kick it with.
I can say with certainty that without the love, support and guidance I've received from this place, I'd be bored and lonely and probably dead. Grateful as all fuck.
