I live in Fayetteville, and LOVE it here! We don't have a very developed intentional community but there ARE spots! We have food not bomb gatherings often....and there is a great music scene!
Strong pulse!
Check out the fb group "What's up fayetteville" and the website for fayetteville flyer....those are good starts :)

Coming from someone who went thru all major metros in America with 3 exceptions, I think Fayetteville/Springdale is America's best kept secret. I mean it is a great town for alternative people, but hasn't been blown up, so things are affordable and no one is over your shoulder telling you what not to do if you know what I mean. Occassionally you get some oogle fucking up a nice place with their "anyone who quits drinking deserves to die" attitude, my favorite quote:

Climate is decent year round and it's surrounded by mountains, springs, and wilderness. There is even money and a decent economy there if youre into that. Id move there in a heartbeat.

Bump.. NWA Northwest Arkansas. I was gonna make a new thread about Fayetteville / Springdale but this is a good one. What do you guys think of the area for those that have been there? Rogers and Bentonville included. Seems like a damn nice town to live in for cyclists too. My biggest and only real complaint with the area is deer ticks and while the metro area is very tolerant of homeless people and pretty liberal on freedom, as @FrumpyWatkins said the state itself takes a hard stance on even victimless crimes.

I'm from Arkansas. I attended the University of Arkansas and lived in the area as a "normie" for 10 years.

Fayetteville is extremely conservative. It views itself as liberal and progressive. It.is.in Washington County. Trump got 50% of the vote.

There are jobs if you are interested in pursuing traditional employment.

They despise homeless people. However, there are services and feeds available should you need them.

Downtown for example, there's no Starbucks and none of the coffee shops open before 7 am.

The bus system is somewhat useable if you are not in a hurry. The University has a free bus system as well.

Arkansas culture in general skews towards authoritarianism. No one cares if you are "funky" and "alternative" as long as you fit into their preconceived notions of what that looks like and acts like.

There are almost no black people in the county. In fact, Fayetteville was at one time a "sundowner" town.

They have really good bike paths.

Crystal Bridges is a free art museum in Bentonville. It's worth a visit.

If you want to go to a job everyday and drive a car everywhere they will accept you.

YMMV of course.
