Doing the pacific bike trail from San Francisco to Vancouver, BC this winter if there is anyone else in the neighbourhood.

i totally don't mean to piss on your parade or anything, cause i would do this route in a second, but having grown up in that state, it's going to be really really cold/wet and snowy during that time of year... you might not be able to bike certain portions at all.

Fiddlesticks. I was reading the weather for that time of year and it says lows around 5-10C, which to me isn't that cold at all buuuttt if it gets so wet you can't bike it then yeah, this is a problem haha. Really I could do any of the trails in the US I suppose, as long as it's warm enough. Any suggestions? Literally just trying to kill time til Spring.

i've actually been researching a lot of the trails you can get maps for on adventurecycling.org and for this time of year (fall/winter) the southern tier route looks pretty cool. you could bike from california to new orleans before the end of the year was out (probably earlier depending on when you start) and the weather will be pretty pleasant the whole way.

and again, if you wanted to work, the work season in new orleans picks up going from new year's eve through mardi gras, through a dozen other festivals until things get too hot in june. so it would be an excellent place to find work at the end of your bike trip.

I'm looking into that now, it looks like fun. Honestly(and this may be silly) but I am a bit more nervous with that one because it's a terrain I am not familiar with at all. I am big on foraging and forest camping, I don't know if I'd be able to wing it there. Or maybe I could..time to look up the flora and fauna! I'm looking for forests and water. But as I said, as long as it kills time I should not complain right?

ha yeah, i mean i couldn't tell you much about flora/fauna, but when it comes to stealth camping, you shouldn't have much of an issue. the terrain is wide open and there's a good distance between cities. if you do go though, i would advise getting the adventure cycling maps, you'll probably have a lot more fun.
