I've hitched a lot for the last few summers. Got a knack for it. I know what to expect, what the good spots are, what to look for, the basic things, all that. In the winter I house up, though, and this winter I found myself, quite accidentally, with a job, a boyfriend, and well... a life. With that life came a cute-as-hell dog. She'll be about one this spring, and I desperately want to take her on the road with me. she's got the makings of a good traveling dog. She's small-ish, VERY obedient, and protective but not aggressive. I'm training her hard-core this winter with long snow-filled hikes and camping trips on warmer nights. The thing is, I've never hitched with a dog, so I don't know what to expect. It SEEMS like a huge pain in the ass, but as much as I love travelin' I often have a hard time with loneliness, and I think that a dog would help with that, so the trade-off seems worth it. So, down to my question, what are the big differences when hitching with a dog? I get really quick ride times right now because I come off pretty harmless and know how to work a road side. What are my ride wait times going to be like (on average) with a dog? Keeping in mind that she is smaller, if that makes much of a difference. I'm curious as to what I should know and expect while hitching with my furry mate. Thanks for the help!
