Powy's Waterin Hole outside of Trout Run, Pennsylvania on old route 15. Nothing special about it really, cool old beer cans all over the walls. The people are great though, friendly folk, great stories. Met an old pitcher for the Red Sox! Cheap beer, and you can smoke inside! Hit it up if you are around there for some odd reason.
screw the Lower 48. you want some really depraved fear and loathing bars? head to Alaska. just stick your thumb out and make it here, just like the rest of us did. find some crusty ol' fisherman bars and you'll find some bad craziness.

farmington, maine is pretty friendly and if you can't find a stranger to crash with there is unlimited camping space in the surrounding woods. i've always had good luck in Austin and northern cali (like north of arcata). fort collins, co is great if you're on bike and people are friendly.

Supai, Arizona: About a 10 mile hike into the grand canyon to and through an indian reservation/village, they have a campground and a bunch of insanely beautiful waterfalls and greenery!! Can't even describe how awesome this place was, definitely going again sometime.

Get to Santa Barbara, CA. I grew up here and this place is one of my favorite places ever. There are hella tourists, but the beaches are beautiful and not crowded and theres one main street, state street, great for spangin/buskin and theres always crusties or travellers hangin out somewhere or another. Theres tons of places to sleep and helpful people, worth a visit
aside from SB id say visit Santa Cruz/Capitola, CA, because you have beachy-town feel and redwood forests within a couple miles of each other.

Haha, New Orleans is a steaming hellhole.. Been here 3 months, had enough of the extreme heat, humidity, bad attitudes, and maybe the worst place in America for the homeless!! San Fran, here I come!!

Oregon Coast line, highway 101 from San diego to Seattle, some of the most amazing scenery I have ever seen, riddled with beautiful state parks , beaches, zoos, and countless other things, sometimes finding your way can be exhausting out there but everyone I have met has been wonderful and nice people. Oregon was difficult to hitch through but I made my way to Canada from portland just thumbing it! the northern states on the east coast are amazing as well but I would recommend visiting/traveling in the summer months since the new england states see lots of snow but still gorgeous!

Thanks for the info, Oregon was beautiful but you are right about the trendy people , i swear everyone walks is the same out there, its cool to know theres somewhere out there like with better environment, Ill be checking out Western Mass now because of that^^^^ty ty ty

OR: Bend, Eugene, Ashland, coast, Crater Lake
CA: most places in humboldt and mendo 'cept for Eutweeka, the eastern sierra (Bishop, big pine, ect), Yosemite and the "Mother Load" area, actually, just all of the sierra in general, the mohave desert area, San Francisco
AZ: the laws and people here kinda suck, I left for a reason. My hometown is Flagstaff, its really nice, but stay away from the cops. Prescott, Bisbee, Grand Staircase-Escalante National monument, Lake powell, Grand Canyon, Quartzsite (In winter)
UT: Grand Staircase, Zion national park, Bryce Canyon, Moab, Canyonlands NP, Mexican Hat (Ya, how many ppl have been here?), Park City, Just all of southern Utah, its awesome
CO: Boulder, Glenwoood, Durango, Pagosa springs, Dolores, Cortez, Loveland, Stay away from grand junction, that place sucks massive balls
WY: Jackson Hole and the tetons, Yellowstone, Cody, thats about it, there are some cool hot springs but you have to fine 'em yerself
, This is one of the only states in the nation that has tried to make the entire act of Hitchhiking illegal
MT: Missoula, bozeman, Butte, Glacier, Whitefish, Kalispell, Stay out of eastern MT, believe me.
ID: Cour 'd alene, Stanley, McCall, lots of awesome wilderness, watch out for Grizzlys!
NV: Legal Hookers and Vegas, the northern part has alot of great wilderness to check out.

Got my ass to Teton and Yosemite last year but Nickerson State Park I still prefer. Lotsa lakes out there but the shoreline can be screwed with tree litter and inaccessible or private. This place has a day use area without campsites and for goodness sake don't forget to return to your site at the end of the day.

almost anywhere in Oregon, some areas better than others but fuck man what an outstanding place. hwy 101 yes especially curry and coos counties, hwy 138, crater lake, Bend...Eastern Oregon as well is heaven if you are already in good company...but more conservative in comparison to the emerald curtain...i had good experiences in Baker and Ukiah

Catskill Mountains, NY. Used to be "the destination.'" For camping out, places everywhere. A rail line runs through the area, and the Walmarts still allow overnight parking.
