One more thing and i will stop detouring into bread: KING ARTHUR FLOUR is #1. The package is mostly RED for a reason: it is a worker-owned coop. It is also hands down the best bread flour. You wanna see some anarcho-syndicalism in action- bake...

Even if you do totally wild fermentation (no added yeast), your hard cider will have a slimy yeast layer after fermentation dies down, and this will make excellent bread. Bread is easy, beer is hard, but they are the same thing with different...

Yes, all yeast eats sugars, and shits alcohol and carbon dioxide. Bread yeast makes very little alcohol, and lots of CO2, and is easily killed by alcohol. The tiny bit of alcohol bakes off, and the CO2 makes the bubbles that make the bread rise...

I never forgot my childhood in Louisiana, growing up hopping freight trains a handful of times, and have always wanted to do it again. I recently reached out to @Gulysses3 , expressing an interest in tagging along on a trip. At times, the...

Your main problem was allowing the naturally occurring yeast to do the job. Using a packet yeast is much 1. Faster 2. Tastier (debatable) 3. Predictable Using the wild yeasts in the air is doable but you stand the chance of nasty...

Yeah.. I've always wanted to brew a beer with like a Durban poison or a haze strain. Alas I quit the cannabis industry.

That's awesome. I imagine the Co2 levels produced by the brewing weren't exactly 1500ppm but it's probably better than no extra co2 and it's free.

So I ended up only being there for like a day but it was pretty sweet! And there we're a bunch of kids who actually hop freight trains there and all the older people actually hopped trains back in the day. Everyone in the town was super nice and...

Ha ha. Yeah it was a decent beer. I was getting super cheap hops off of a guy who went out of business and was selling the remainder on Craigslist. I also had cleared out a 30ft area in the woods where I had a fairly decent garden and I planted...

Well, of course the brew shop guy's were better, he had optimal working conditions, while you were brewing beer in hunter-gatherer conditions, which i, as a person who has been brewing since the '80s, would have thought totally impossible. Beer...

I ended up with 1 full Gallon, 1 - 2liter filled, and about 16 OZs. Had I had a funnel I probably would have had about 1 3/4 Gallons. I first tried it in Melvern AK, a dry county with tomato paste, it was nasty but did the trick. This time I...

Yea, packs suck when you have 50 barrels to add to ( i never got into conical fermenters). I think you have to be licensed to get the big packs though i have no idea really. I got them from a commercial brewery supplier when i had access.

50 barrels ?!? Were you making that much wine or was that for a mash for something stronger?
