        wwoofing is probably the cheapest way for accom, hitching is alright for getting about but gets harder further inland and north you go... australians in general are pretty hospitable... staying east is probably best if you don't have your own transport, plenty of travellers in queensland and northern nsw... then again i love the landscape in the west, it's scary beautiful

        there are a lot of coin op showers along rt 1 at the state parks. you can stay in the woods nearby and use their facitilies. especially in the winter no one will notice.
