Any advice on going to Europe? Can you be houseless traveler as in USA?

Any advice on going to Europe? Can you be houseless traveler as in USA?

I don't agree. Spain has always leaned to the right wing, apart from a very select few - Euskal Herria, Cataluña, Asturias and Andalucia which are on a different level. Galicia has always been fascist .. Always - hence why Fraga has been in power for sooooo many years - So their political...

Any advice on going to Europe? Can you be houseless traveler as in USA?

Oh yeah, definitely. Squats are being pursued by the coppers big time now. They took the law away that if the place was unsecured and a lock was placed on the front door - it was legally acceptable to squat. At least that was the last change I heard in England. Spain's changing too...

I agree with most of what you say, apart from that. London has a shite loads of squats... like seriously stupid amount of them!!!! Very little coke comes through Morocco. Maybe 10/15 years ago ... but still, not much. It all comes into Europe through Spain ;)

How to afford visas (and such)on long distance vagabond (low money) travel

Oh yes, definitely. Homework is a must! Same as trying to cross Tajikistan from Iran - there's only one place from where they issue you a four day transit visa. When it comes to South America I don't have an issue as I hold a Spanish passport - thing is getting there (working on that though)...

How to afford visas (and such)on long distance vagabond (low money) travel

Yeah true, but there's ways round that. If you have no money, short on food and you need medical assistance - The Red Cross springs to mind - they don't charge you :D I mean I'm comfortable with saying that I think vagabonding around the world is possible apart from the visas. Everything else...

How to afford visas (and such)on long distance vagabond (low money) travel

That would defy the purpose. I'm talking in the sense of long term/long distance travel - not to get sent back.

How to afford visas (and such)on long distance vagabond (low money) travel

oh wow ... that visa restriction! I had no idea how many countries I don't need a visa for. I guess the true definition of vagabonding can only be applied when within a non-visa requiring country. Because if you have cash stashed away for emergencies. At least for me - it defies the point of...

    people giving bad directions

Also some people - if they don't really walk much, they have no idea how to get there on foot or by bike. I find this quite a lot - unfortunately. There is a plus side from bad directions though; sometimes you find some really cool places thanks to them.

How to afford visas (and such)on long distance vagabond (low money) travel

I read around the web - how long distant travelers with empty or near empty pockets gradually make their way around the globe. This fills me with a very healthy envy but sparks my travel button at full throttle. my curiosity though has always been how the hell do they manage to scrape together...

Late 90's Basque Punk - Salvate Si Puedes

Most of their songs refer to the lack of knowledge and stupidity within people. How their ignorance and attachment to comfort is creating a society full of hypocrites with no back-bone, ideals, intelligence or interest... Then to get the fuck off the sofa, of wherever it is these people lay to...

I don't agree what you say about Kerouac but I do agree with what you say here. (well partially in some way but still, I more agree than disagree.) I travel like this for the same reasons - to get away to not be noticed. If hitching-vagabonding-cycling [...] and all the other sub categories...

Late 90's Basque Punk - Salvate Si Puedes

I refound this group again, after many years and thought I'd put it here. It might mainly be directed at the spanish speaking people on here ... as the lyrics are amazing. But still ... this is a band from Gasteiz that brought out only one album and the for unknown reasons split up. It doesn't...

Near death/Holy shit experiences....let me hear yours!

Cycling on a main road in Portugal, I was happily peddling minding my own buisness - suddenly a lorry hits his horn, which is fine as they normally do so to let me know there coming. He hit his horn a couple more times, I looked over my shoulder and see two lorries bombing it down the road -...

I just use a normal chain lock - mostly at night. I tend to not tie my bike up when I have to go into places. From nearly five months on it - I've been robbed from once. Freight Ship Cruises

I looked into this some time ago and came to the same conclusion you guys came too ... It's fucking expensive for the lack of everything there is. I found out a cheapish way to get from Europe to North/South America (and vice-versa) with the re-positioning ferries. When the low season hit's...

In all honesty, there's very little of Portugal's coast where you actually get to cycle directly by the sea. Most of the time, you'll be cycling on roads 5km inland. Yeah, went well for me. I'll touch wood so it keeps going well xD Just so you know for you're return trip. At Covilhâ where...

I think that's plenty of time!! what you thinking - Down the coast right to El Algarve and across into Spain or cutting down directly from Porto? So you can calculate more or less. That's too much weight on you're back wheel - just in case you didn't know. I'm currently on a brief parenthesis of my trip. Just come back round after doing the North of Spain and the whole of Portugal - three and a half months more or less. Spent nearly two months with no tools, only a...

Hitching works just fine. I tend to not do it - unless I have a good reason, as wehaavethemap said the whole point is cycling. But it's so easy you'd be surprised. It was just advise. I started off without a culotte. But experience will show you what you need and don't need :)
