Either my new pair of boots, or my pack. The pack is my bag I got when I was still playing paintball (family owns a store, so I naturally got into it). It isn't that big, but it is comfortable and designed to hold up to being constantly dirty and thrown around. I can fit most things I could need in it, and the bag already has straps/buckles on the outside that were designed to carry pod-packs and masks, but they work great for hooking a sleeping bag and a roll of duct tape on. It's extra cushy with padding on the back and the straps. I still use it all the time even when not travelling. I wouldn't mind if it was about 200ci bigger, but I can't complain, I've had it for a while now and it is still going strong.

The pocket on the outside where the gun is supposed to go fits a tarp and my gallon bag full of maps i printed off and my atlas.
Though I do think before I hit the road for any length of time again, I'll be investing in a shoulder bag just for some extra storage for paper stuff, toiletries, and my necessary reading materials. They get lost in the big pocket of the backpack when I'm also carrying clothes.
Totally agree here. Have both the Road Novels book ( On the Road / The Dharma Bums / The Subterraneans / Tristessa / Lonesome Traveler / Journal Selections) and The Portable Jack Kerouac (it takes excerpts from various books and writings and puts them in chronological order to better tell the story of his life through his own words)

Went shopping at the Army Surplus store today. By accident, I bought a really expensive headlamp. I was pissed at first, but decided I may as well stick the batteries in and try it out. I immediately became stoked on how high tech it is.
So if you are ever thinking to yourself: Gee! I would really love a powerful, long-lasting, water resistant headlamp with a pivoting lamp, 9 light settings, including bright red, blue, and green LEDS and just so happens to also be equipped with a rear safety light feature on the opposite side, then you probably want this high tech Extreme Sportsman Rayovac headlamp.
Old-school Gameboy with a few games. I had it for a while then got busted throwing my pack around.
I also usually never travel with out an instrument... Entertainment, keeps me sane, and it's a decent money maker.

ive been seriously considering carrying around a d20, and a d4 in addition to my usual d6's
(for those who are wondering, its DnD shit)
someone mentioned the p38 in here, and those are the shit! I lost mine, but my favorite thing gear-wise is probably this sick American Camper multi-tool with a fucking tool where you can use sockets on it, and a few common sized sockets cut out of the handle. Pretty neat shit...
My favorite piece is a 4inch Winchester folding knife I got a long time ago, but it is super light and small, plus I have gutted a whole caribou with it before.
water key and my multi tool. both really help out on the reg. and sewing kit. def a need

I got a new favorite gear item that I have been rocking for a bit. Its my Becker BK2... I can make fire and shelter with it, carve things such as bowl and bows, pull it in a fight and end that fight with this 1lb of steel...etc.
Full review coming soon!

insulated coveralls. a pain in the ass to carry when its hot but can be rolled up to the size of a sleeping bag. with the right hat it totally makes you look like a worker. warmest shit ever
One of my favorite pieces of gear lately has been my Therm-a-Rest® ProLite Plus self-inflating air mattress.
These damn things are great!
I got the small sized one, it is perfect torso sized, dose not weigh a thing, and when deflated and rolled up it is no larger than maybe a nalgene
Damn glad that I came up on that thing!!
my hammock! bout 11oz and maybe 15 with the suspension.its just lovely. tarp folded up in it![]()

My pack. A GoLite LieSpeed. Its less than two pounds, heavy fucking duty, big, totally waterproof, and comfy as hell to wear all day.
i was going through old stuff and i found my brother old pack.... it's one of those old skate boarding ones from when they first came out with straps for the board..... it's my new favorite piece.... it's surprisingly can hold a lot including my sleeping bag and there's the straps on the outside if im packing heavy.... and its got all sorts of straps and shit for tightening and compacting.... sooo fucking stoked on the find

my pack....i can always steal a sharpie to fly for some money to get shit to put inside.
I would definitely say my bedding. Specifically my bag but also my mat. This past winter I managed to lift both from REI in one go. The newest thermarest (1/2 size) and a 10o Halo sleeping bag. If you could wrap yourself in warm clouds, this bag would feel exactly like that. It's super light and packs down tiny. When I'm at home I actually remove the blankets on my bed and sleep in just my bag. It's like my security blanket from age 4.
I kinda miss my old bag because I'm just sentimental, but if you don't have to pay for it there are some very nice things to be said about new gear.

Probably my hammock, it's big and waterproof. I've been using it as a tent for the last week in rainy Portland lol. That and a harmonica.
My GI double strap duffel black bag.
It was my dogs saddle bags, unfortunately I lost them a while back. Now I suppose my favorite piece of gear is my leather fold up cowboy hat. It's not a vital piece of gear, but it keeps the sun out of my eyes. That and my boots.
"If I don't remember, It never happened"
Probably my camping hammock or this Leatherman-style mulit-tool I found awhile back... to be honest, I've got rather nice gear for a hitchhiker, mostly because I spend more time hiking and camping than hitching these days. Got stuck into a semi-stable but unordinary lifestyle...

Hmmmm thats a hard one. Prolly my smokeless tobbaco. I get incredibly pissed eventually...when I dont have any.
My grappling hook, smoke grenades, trench coat helicopter or my sex swing.
My vote goes in for the hammock. Gotta love sleepin' above ground. Or you can hang a tarp across it and sleep under that, easy made tent! I never seen anyone else doing that but they should be. Its good for when its dark and to hard to hang tarp above your hammock.

good book. hands down.
it's a tossup between my pressure cooker and my spacebag. I use my spacebag for EVERYTHING from pillow, waterbottle, shower, seat, hooch maker, flotation device and lover... well maybe not lover. but it's small as shit, and the most multiuse thing I've ever had in a piece of garbage. The pressure cooker... well... I cook good shit (beans and goat) fast.. and when I'm living in the woods it makes the world go round.
my skateboard. sometimes i need to shred the gnar. bombing hills is way faster than walking down them. good way to meet folks. something to sit on. playing skate in well cars.
It's going to be a serious competition between my laptop and my new hammock. the hammock is winning more every night my laptop wont let me sleep on/in/under it - what selfish assholes toshibas are . . .
I have to say my knife. It's the one tool that I couldn't make in the woods, But with my knife I can make a plethora of natural tool to survive and make shelters, dig holes, clean dinner and don't forget self defence.

My boots, yeah walking/running and cardio capacity is a bless

i would have to say my markill stove or my gps
My cheese in a can. I haven't done any major traveling yet, but when I homebum around a bit I love it. A luxury, but I love cheese and it keeps me happy.
my cheerfully colored rubber bouncy ball (makes walking forever seem less shitty, provides happiness in sad times)
my boots (docs actually made in England and all broke in just right)
spork, water key, p 38 or whatever the fuck number it is
sunblock (because I don't like my face being burned all the time)
art supplies, really strong glue
aaaaaaand a bag o weed.
letherman wave tool. hammock, metal water bottle. instruments. and my fire performance gear. those are my fav. peices of gear.

No really I'd have to say my harmonicas. They keep me sane when I'm alone and make me a little money once in a while.
